Justice Seeks to Open Anesthesiologist's Phone in Overdose Death Case

The Justice system is seeking to open the cell phone of Alejandro Zalazar, the anesthesiologist who died from a propofol and fentanyl overdose, a case that led to the investigation of one of the most serious incidents of drug theft by healthcare professionals. According to the Argentine News Agency, the cause of death was the consumption of propofol and fentanyl, two drugs used for patient anesthesia. After analyzing the items seized from the professional's apartment, which included a vial, it was confirmed that they belonged to the Italian Hospital, leading to a parallel investigation into drug theft. The phone was found next to Zalazar's body when police entered his apartment in Palermo, and due to the importance of its content, the collaboration of the General Directorate of Investigations and Technological Support for Criminal Investigation was requested. Authorities indicated that the phone is locked, requiring specialists to open it and extract all information that may be crucial to the case. The autopsy confirmed that Zalazar died from congestion, pulmonary edema, and meningoencephalic edema.
